A former town councillor in Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls is heading to the United States due to Ontario’s Lockdowns.
Andrew Nisly and his wife had two businesses in Sioux Narrows but had to close Bridge gift shop and the Neighbourhood Eatery this winter.
He says the latest Stay at Home order was the last straw.
“We’re coming back for the summer and we can either sink a bunch more time and energy into reopening the restaurant, reopening the gift shop, restocking our inventory for the summer,” says Nisly.
“To do that we have to have some faith they are going to have our best interest in mind moving forward and we just don’t anymore.”

Just over a week ago, Andrew Nisly thought he could save his restaurant from going under.
He defied a provincial order and opened the dining room of The Neighbourhood Eatery, a small restaurant in Sioux Narrows, Ont., about 75 km south of Kenora.
For the few days he stayed open, he was making enough money to at least pay some bills. Snowmobilers travelling through the area would stop and have lunch, which was more than he was able to do when only offering take-out.
