Scott Cousins, scousins@thetelegraph.com FacebookTwitterEmail EDWARDSVILLE A series of committee meetings and an executive session at Wednesday’s Madison County Board meeting are planned to deal with pending litigation, including a possible vote on settlement. Possible settlements could include lawsuits involving former Community Development Director Kristen Poshard or the Veteran’s Assistance Commission. An amendment to the Madison County Board’s Agenda Monday included an executive session “for the purpose of discussing pending or imminent litigation” to be followed by an open session “for the purpose of approving settlement of pending litigation” discussed in the executive session.

An estimated 2,000 people in Wales are affected by lupus. Campaigner Wendy Diment said centres of excellence would extend the lives of lupus patients in Wales. A Welsh Government spokeswoman said health boards could refer people for further treatment if it was not available locally. There is currently no cure for lupus and it occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy parts of the body.

Haine was elected state’s attorney in November and took office in early December. “The period of transition since I took office two months ago has been fast-paced but fruitful,” said Haine. “My team took advantage of the COVID-required pause to introduce many important internal improvements, to include a full-case tracking system, office and policy modernization, and a modified leadership structure. “In short, we are motivated and prepared for a very busy year in Madison County’s justice system,” he added. “Madison County can be proud of this team of professionals, dedicated to pursuing vigorous and fair justice. I am grateful for their hard work.”
