ASHLAND, Ore. A drive-in celebration of life was held earlier today for Aidan Ellison, the young black man shot and killed in Ashland just before Thanksgiving.
The event, called Turn up the Volume, was hosted by SoEquity or Southern Oregon Coalition for Racial Equity.
The celebration featured local black performers and speakers.
On Tuesday, Aidan Ellison’s mother, Andrea Wofford announced she’s filing lawsuits against the man who killed her son, as well as the Stratford Inn, where it happened.
Her attorney says the inn shouldn’t have allowed the suspected murderer, Robert Keegan, to stay there while carrying a weapon.

You are finally free : Mother of Aidan Ellison remembers her son
ASHLAND, Ore. It s never easy when a loved one leaves this world, especially when you re the one who brought them into it.
19-year-old Aidan Ellison was killed outside of Ashland s Stratford Inn on November 23. This week, NewsWatch 12 spoke with Aidan s mother, Andrea Wofford, who is in the process of laying her son to rest. My fondest moment of Aidan was when I gave birth to him . . . and his eyes were hazel, and that was so beautiful,” Wofford said.
19 years of life and love, gone within a matter of minutes. Wofford describes her son as a double-middle child, someone who marched to the beat of his own drum and led others along the way.
