PROVINCETOWN The leadership at the Fine Arts Work Center will begin another transition March 1, just as officials there have renewed their commitment to greater diversity and inclusion.
Margaret Murphy, executive director from 2007 to 2012, will return in that role on a volunteer interim basis at the end of the month until the next leader is chosen. Officials expect a new executive director to take over May 1 based on a search that began in November.
Murphy will take the reins temporarily following the center staff and board of trustees re-emphasis this month on the importance of “diversity, belonging, equity and inclusion.” Center officials recently posted a lengthy statement on the fawc.org website about changes that have been and will be made in response to race-related concerns raised last year.
Funds designated for “community” will focus on Nexus Recovery Center’s campus environment, the nonprofit staff and frontline workers and the recovery community. Funds designated for “dignity” will be dedicated to the basic needs of Nexus Recovery Center’s clients, such as clothing and essential items. Funds donated towards “security” will go towards the safety of the Nexus Recovery Center campus and staff.
The campaign aims to raise at least 50 gifts of $50,000 each. It is being led Nexus board member Jan Madigan and Carolyn Waghorne, a longtime supporter of the organization

7-Eleven In Japan Is Running A Super Mario Merch Lottery, With New Mario-Themed Food

Starting on February 5th, the massively popular American-built, Japanese-owned chain store, 7-Eleven, will be running the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Campaign , which adds a few new Mario-themed food items to the menu.
The only item detailed so far is the Mario s Mix Roll , a bun stuffed with a red ketchup croquette, egg salad, and mushroom pasta with tomato sauce.
On January 23rd, the Super Mario Ichiban Kuji - a lottery where there s always a prize - will return from last year. It costs 650 yen to enter (about £4.50), and the prizes range from a talking Mario plush to new merch that didn t appear in the 2020 batch, including a bath towel, a tote, and an alarm clock.
