After an extensive search process, the Food Bank of Delaware board of directors announced that Cathy Kanefsky has been named the organization’s next president and CEO.
Kanefsky’s first day with the organization will be Monday, May 3. She is an experienced nonprofit executive with a passion for helping others, especially her fellow Delawareans. She brings to the role nearly 30 years of experience in the nonprofit space. She has served as chief development officer at Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children, vice president of chapter development at Autism Speaks Inc., national director of family team development for the March of Dimes Foundation and executive director for the March of Dimes in Delaware.

Cathy Kanefsky has been named the next President and CEO of the Food Bank of Delaware.
Kanefsky brings to the role nearly 30 years of experience in the nonprofit space. She has served as the Chief Development Officer at Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children; Vice President, Chapter Development at Autism Speaks, Inc.; National Director of Family Team Development for the March of Dimes Foundation; and Executive Director for the March of Dimes in Delaware.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Food Bank of Delaware has experienced increases in demand for services. Over the past year, the organization has distributed more than 18 million pounds of food.

Since April 1996, the RDC has overseen the transformation of the Christina Riverfront from an abandoned shipbuilding community to a city within a city.
RDC has spearheaded the construction of the Michael S. Purzycki Riverwalk, Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park, Hare Pavilion, the Chase Center on the Riverfront, and the DuPont Environmental Education Center participated in the recruitment of numerous businesses, such as AAA Mid-Atlantic, Barclays, and Navient, and cleared the way for the construction of new residential units and attractions, such as the Delaware Children’s Museum, Riverwalk Mini Golf, the Horizon Riverfront Rink and Constitution Yards Beer Garden.
