Open Farm Sunday: Eight ambassadors to support farmers

The network of ambassadors will share knowledge and experience for farmers looking to take part
Organisers behind the annual Open Farm Sunday initiative have appointed eight ambassadors to support farmers looking to open their farm gates this year.
The 2021 socially-distanced events, taking place on 27 June, will see hundreds of farmers open their farm gates to the public.
Eight ambassadors, ranging from farmers to consultants, have been appointed to share ideas on ways to engage with visitors, such as Covid-friendly farm walks and talks.
The ambassadors will be hosting three online farmer meetings open to those interested in taking part.
WITH two months until LEAF Open Farm Sunday on June 27, when hundreds of farmers open their farm gates to the public, organisers Linking Environment And Farming (LEAF) have announced the appointment of eight ambassadors to support farmers, crofters and smallholders thinking of taking part. Each with a background in agriculture, the ambassadors role is to encourage participation by sharing ideas to engage visitors and give practical information on how to implement safe and fun social distancing. This year LOFS is putting a strong focus on hosting small, socially distanced farm walks and talks to provide an intimate insight to what happens on farm.

From the fourth-floor rooftop patio on East Vernon Avenue, Los Angeles is a 360-degree panorama: to the north, the skyscrapers of downtown; to the south, the Palos Verdes Peninsula; to the west, the Santa Monica Mountains; to the east, snow-capped Mt. Baldy.
This serene tableau will soon be enjoyed by 20 homeless people who will begin moving into the South Los Angeles building next week.
Their new home, a tower of concrete and wheat-toned cladding between a taqueria and a stucco house, is the prototype for an initiative to be announced Wednesday to build up to 1,800 units of supportive housing for homeless people without government construction subsidies.
