Farming close to the coast south of Bundaberg in Queensland (QLD), Jack and Chris Russo run the Cruso Industries family business.
QLD has long been associated with sugar cane production and this farm used to be a big producer of that crop.
However, falling profitability has resulted in substantial acreage decline in this traditional area where the local sugar processor in Bundaberg finds a home for some of its molasses for the production of rum in the same town.
The local plant used to produce up on 1.5Mt of sugar, but that is now down to 1Mt and lower.

The day will be punctuated with more heavy, thundery showers which will become widespread by the afternoon.
Highest temperatures will be between 12°C and 15°C.

Friday
Friday will start off dry, with plenty of sunshine, according to Met Éireann.
Showers will develop in the afternoon, becoming most widespread across the southern half of the country through the day. Temperatures of 9°C to 12°C.
There will be some lingering showers early on Friday night, but these will soon die away and the rest of the night will be dry with clear spells. Another cold night, with lowest temperatures of -1°C to 3°C.
Saturday
Any mist or fog will clear early on Saturday morning and it will be mainly dry to begin.
Once again, cloud will increase, with scattered showers developing, though they will not be quite as heavy or as widespread as previous days. Highest temperatures of 9°C to 12°C.
