Police confirmed the seven-day search had failed to yield any sign of the trio and their vessel which was last seen having engine trouble near Green Island on January 26. Multiple vessels and aircraft were used in the search which extended hundreds of kilometres up the Far North coastline.

That’s a rise of just under 1 per cent. Commissioners in the town cited increasing costs and a number of improvement projects as reasons for the rise. It will mean owners of a three-bedroom house will pay around 9.5 pence per week more than last year. Higher disposal charges at the Energy from Waste Plant and the authority’s contributions to the Northern Civic Amenity Site have both been detailed as factors in the board’s decision.

The chairman of the local authority has confirmed there are procedures in place which allow staff to enter properties in an emergency. A list of services provided during lockdown has been published online in the Ramsey Commissioners Escalation Plan and circulated in a newsletter.
