MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WDLB) The Marshfield Common Council has a new leader, and thus, a new person filling the duties of the Mayor’s office.
After two consecutive 5-to-5 tie votes by the city’s 10 aldermen last night, a coin flip put District Two representative Nick Poeschel in the role of Common Council President, replacing District Six Alderman Tom Witzel.
And since the Council voted to remove Bob McManus from the Mayor’s office on March 22nd, the Council President has been–and will continue–fulfilling the baseline duties of that office, like signing official city documents and presiding over Council meetings. The future of the Mayor’s office will be up for discussion next Tuesday, April 27th, after the Council last week decided to wait until new Alderman Brian Varsho took his seat in District Four.

MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WDLB) – Marshfield aldermen are seeking legal advise before proceeding with handling a complaint filed earlier this month against two members of the city’s Fire-and-Police Commission. Following a closed session that lasted one hour and 15 minutes, the Common Council voted unanimously last night to direct City Attorney Harold Wolfgram to provide a legal analysis of the complaint, and to report back to the Council at its next regular meeting April 27th.

A Roy O’Donovan penalty spared Newcastle Jets’ blushes as they drew 1-1 with Perth Glory at Coffs International Stadium on Tuesday night.
O’Donovan proved to be Newcastle’s saviour as he made no mistake from the penalty spot to cancel out Joel Chianese’s opener.
Two sides struggling for inspiration in the final third did their best to chip away at each other in the first half but it was not until after the break that the game well and truly sprung to life.
Perth went ahead thanks to Chianese, who broke the deadlock with his first touch of the game just after the hour mark, after recently re-joining the club on loan from the Indian Super League.
Joel Chianese had an instant impact for Perth Glory on Tuesday night as he opened the scoring in his side’s 1-1 stalemate with Newcastle Jets.
Chianese had a second Glory debut to remember after he got on the scoresheet with his first touch of the game after entering the action on the hour mark.
The midfielder had only just returned to Glory for his second stint after signing with the club on loan from Indian Super League side, Hyderabad.
