New Athol vaccination clinic targets workers

ATHOL Town Manager Shaun Suhoski has announced that a new workforce-friendly vaccination clinic will begin operations next Thursday, May 13, at the Athol Senior Center, Lord Pond Plaza. Hours of operation are from 4 to 8 p.m. The clinic will offer the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
“The changes that we’re talking about locally are now all over the news, both nationally and in the governor’s latest information,” said Suhoski, “in that we seem to have reached a plateau, or even a slight decline in the demand for vaccine.”

ATHOL About two dozen people took part in a public forum to discuss the “greening” of Lord Pond Plaza in downtown Athol. The meeting, held last Wednesday, was facilitated by BSC Group, the Boston-based consulting firm which drew up three proposals to transform the shopping center into an area that is more pedestrian friendly, from both an environmental and safety standpoint, than the existing iteration of the plaza.

ATHOL Athol officials are seeking the public’s input regarding the future of Lord Pond Plaza. Residents are being asked to complete a survey developed as part of the town’s participation in the state’s Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness program, which is designed to help cities and towns respond to climate extremes and emergencies.
“We had a site walk (at Lord Pond) in December and we had 25 or 30 people show up,” said Athol Director of Planning and Development Eric Smith, “and different concepts were discussed.
