Savannah police: 57-year-old woman killed after being struck by vehicle on Ogeechee Rd

SPD’s Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating a Tuesday pedestrian-involved wreck on Ogeechee Road that resulted in the death of a 57-year-old Savannah woman.
Officers responded to the 4300 block of Ogeechee Road around 6:30 p.m. and discovered Mae Helen James suffering from injuries after being struck by a vehicle. She was transported to a hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.
A preliminary investigation revealed that James was attempting to cross from north to south on Ogeechee Road when she was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet Avalanche driven by Adam Wickline, 47, of Richmond Hill. James was not in a crosswalk at the time she was struck.
