Fishing Is Just The Start Of What You Can Find Near Devils Lake

One of the premiere fishing destinations in the U.S. is ready to welcome anglers this summer.
Devils Lake has a revamped downtown area, along with major events returning this year like June’s Devils Run car show.
The newly-renamed White Horse Hill National Game Preserve has great hiking and a chance to get up-close to wildlife.
But the city is known around the country for fishing. There are opportunities for people of all ages, whether you fish on shore or on a boat on the lake.

We are discovering North Dakota this week on the KVRR Local News morning show. Each day we’re exploring a different area ahead of summer travel season.
Today we learned about the Wahpeton/Breckenridge area.
Wahpeton is home to the Chahinkapa Zoo, and attractions like Wahpper, the world’s largest catfish.
They’re having a busy summer, with Blue Goose Days this June, and the Borderline Chalk Fest this July featuring 15 professional street chalk artists.
The local Chamber says the area is the perfect balance between small town and big city.

Other Vaccines Readily Available As CDC Evaluates Cases Of Blood Clots In J&J Recipients

FARGO, N.D. – Fargo Cass Public Health has paused using the Johnson & Johnson vaccine while the CDC investigates six of blood clots in the more than six million people who got the vaccine in the US.
They had to cancel a Johnson & Johnson clinic next week, but are in the process of contacting people who signed up to offer them other opportunities.
Director of Nursing Suzanne Schaefer says we’re lucky to have ample vaccine supply in North Dakota.
She discussed the possibility of the Johnson & Johnson news making people more hesitant to get vaccinated.

14-Year-Old Girl Last Seen On April 8th
April 10, 2021
A teen is missing who was last seen in Detroit Lakes two days ago.
Bemidji Police say 14-year-old Eliza Defoe appeared to voluntarily leave Detroit Lakes on April 8th with a friend.
They say it’s believed she is heading towards Bemidji or possibly in the Red Lake area.
Her father provided a photo to KVRR and says she may also have crossed over into North Dakota.
Eliza is either 5″1′ or 5″2′ , 110 lbs. with browns eyes and short black hair.
She was last seen in a white jacket with yellow and white Crocs shoes. She has a pierced right nostril and pierced ears.
