“He’s got two broken legs and his internal organs are a mess. He’s got brain swelling so they had to drill a hole in his skull so that wouldn’t kill him,” Mallicoat said. “He’s in a lot of pain. But he’s one hell of a trooper.”
The Iowa State Patrol said in a news release that Hardisty was driving north on J Avenue, also known as County Road P58, when Wink crossed over into the northbound lane and hit her car head-on. Impairment is believed to have played a part in the crash, the release said.
