Delivery platforms Talabat and Deliveroo have released their findings about food preferences based on what people ordered in 2020. Some of these are expected to inform dish choices and trends for the year going forward, while others are likely to get the axe.
Both platforms found that burgers, the ultimate comfort food, were the most ordered cuisine in the UAE last year. The top choices were the Spicy McChicken from McDonald’s, the Five Guys cheese burger and the Shack burger from Shake Shack. Talabat noted that out of the top 20 items ordered during lockdown, 10 were from McDonald’s, including Chicken McNuggets, and all manner of medium and happy meals.

Doha: A big rise in coffee deliveries was found among Qatar residents this year, the region’s leading food and grocery delivery app, talabat, has said in its compilation of the list of some of its Qatar-based customers’ best, weirdest, and wonderful ordering habits in 2020.
In a statement, talabat said the huge rise in coffee deliveries among its Qatar-based customers, even during the lockdown, indicates the residents’ unbreakable passion for coffee.
“It seemed that amongst the many changes we’ve seen in our day-to-day lives this year, coffee continued to be a part of our daily lives, even during lockdown. With most significant increase in orders from cafes between the start of the year and now, Qatar-based customers stood out as big fans of caffeine amongst other markets in the region,” talabat said.

A recent consumer survey carried out by talabat has found that during 2020, burgers took the lead as the most ordered cuisine in UAE; the most expensive late night order was a mindblowing Dh21,000 and the UAE’s favourite pizza’s are certainly not italian themed!
The home-grown region leading food and grocery delivery app, talabat, has compiled a list of some of their UAE’s customer’s best, weirdest, and wonderful ordering habits of the year. Much as though 2020 has been a challenging year, there have been some interesting insights as well.
