The BSE Sensex slumped over 336 points and the NSE Nifty slipped below the 9,800-mark in early trade today following global sell-off triggered by mounting geo-political tensions between the US and North Korea.
Besides, caution ahead of IIP data for June due later in the day too weighed on the sentiments.The BSE 30-share barometer tanked 336.46 points, or 1.06 per cent, to 31,194.87.
Sensex Surge 750 Points, Nifty Soars 232 Points
According to analysts, the high-frequency indicators may indicate the recovery of the domestic economy

The benchmark BSE Sensex surged nearly 750 points and NSE Nifty rallied over 232 points on Monday as investors cheered the domestic economy returning to positive territory after two-quarters of contraction.
The 30-share BSE index briefly traded above the 50,000-mark during the mid-session, before ending at 49,849.84, showing a rise of 749.85 points or 1.53 per cent.
Likewise, the NSE barometer Nifty settled with a gain of 232.40 points or 1.60 per cent at 14,761.55.
Of the Sensex constituents, 29 closed with gains.

Major losers in the Sensex pack were Nestle, ONGC, HDFC, TCS, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, HUL, Asian Paint, IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank, Sun Pharma and Asian Paint, to fall below 4.58 percent. On the other hand, major gainers were Bajaj Auto, M&M, NTPC, SBI, Bajaj Finance, and RIL, rising upto 1.51 percent.
