Close to €16,000 raised by online shop for charity

Popular online shopping experience WeAreNotAShop.com is celebrating a successful first six months, raising €15,943 for charity from the sale against donations of over 800 items so far. Blending altruism with a passion for unique design, the quirky online site offers a carefully curated collection of hard-to-find new, vintage and antique items. Every cent received for the site’s large selection of items, including artworks, gifts, jewellery, homeware items and so much more, is donated directly to the Save The Valletta Skyline Appeal (SVS) and St John Malta. WeAreNotAShop.com is only online, and since its launch at the end of last year – at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic – the site has raised impressive sums for both charities, with €9,566 going to SVS and €6,377 to St John Malta.

I m surprised they haven t built on the polo pitch - Prince Philip in Malta

When the late Prince Philip visited Malta’s Polo Club 15 years ago, he expressed surprise that the pitch had not yet been taken over by construction. That’s a memory shared by the club’s honorary secretary Jean Vella. Jean Vella sitting to the left of Prince Philip when he visited the Malta Polo Club in 2015. Polo was one of the Duke of Edinburgh’s many passions. He would often play the sport while stationed in Malta in the 1950s, said Vella, who also met Prince Philip in 2015. And whenever he visited the island following Independence in 1964, he always made time for the club.
