With just under a week left, Tart Trails and Top of Michigan Trails are making their final push to raise $75,000 for their Acme Connector Project.
The project would connect the two existing trails together, making bike travel from Suttons Bay to Charlevoix possible.
Several local organizations made the pledge to match every dollar donated up to $75,000.
With just under $5,000 left to raise, local supporters gathered Tuesday to celebrate at Stone House Brewing in Acme.
Organizers say by increasing their trails, it will increase the amount of interesting locations for Michiganders to explore.
“Elk Rapids to Traverse City, or Acme to Elk Rapids, that’s gonna be a wonderful ride,” said Brent Bolin, Executive Director of the Top of Michigan Trails Council. “It’s a great kind of perfect distance, ride up have some food have something to drink and ride back. So that’s gonna be a great days activity for anybody who lives around here.”

The money will go towards the Acme Connector Trail.
The project will connect the current Tart Trail point on Bunker Hill Road to the intersection of M-72 and US-31, with a section running east towards the Acme Meijer.
The proposed trail will be 1.8 miles long and help users safely get to businesses and recreational spots in the area.
Construction for this project is slated to start sometime this year.
