Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State said the demise of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen.  Joshua Nimyel Dogonyaro (Rtd) is a lost to the state and the nation, adding that the country has lost “a patriotic and loyal Nigerian who served with courage, dignity and selflessness”. The Governor also expressed deep shock over the death of the retired military officer, who died at the age of 80. Our correspondent reports that Gen. Dogonyaro died at the early hours of Thursday at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, where he was admitted after a brief illness. His remains have been deposited at Airforce Hospital in Jos, State Capital.

He took courses at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Jaji; Armour Officers Course, US; Armoured Car Troop Leaders Course, UK; Command and Staff College, Jaji; Defence Resources Management Course, US; and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.
