A special luncheon honored first responders in Crockett County and what they do for the community.
“Somebody has to be calm in the situation, because when somebody calls 911, that is probably the first time they have ever called 911,” said Gail Wallace, a Crockett County 911 supervisor.
“We are normal people put into abnormal situations, regularly,” said Chris Milton, a paramedic supervisor in Crockett County.
Crockett County Ambulance Service Director, Stephen Sutton came up with the idea after hearing the story of how Crockett County first responders saved a man’s life after he was choking and in cardiac arrest.
A multi-vehicle collision involving four individuals happened at around 8:05 p.m. on Tuesday in Morehead.
Armando Cintron, according to Kentucky State Police Post 8 (Morehead), of Nashville, was traveling south on Ky. 801 in a 2016 Dodge Ram. He was making a left turn, according to KSP, when he crossed into the path of Johnny Rice, of Flemingsburg. Rice was traveling north on Ky. 801 in a 2014 Ford pickup. As a result, Riceâs vehicle stuck a 2019 Dodge Ram operated by Duane Carpenter, of Morehead.
Air Methods and Air Evac transported Rice and his passenger, Lakeisha Wallace, of Morehead, to the University of Kentucky for treatment to their injuries.

A gunfire exchange in Ozark County between neighbors ended with one man in handcuffs and a bullet wound to the hand.
The Ozark County Times reports Calvin Grisham of Dora is being held without bond in the Ozark County Jail. His age was not provided on court documents.
Grisham is charged with a Class B felony of unlawful use of a weapon by discharging a firearm at a habitable structure and the unclassified felony of armed criminal action. A bond reduction hearing is set for Tuesday.
The Class B felony carries a sentence of five to 15 years in prison, and the unclassified felony carries a sentence of three to 15 years in prison.
