After seeing a noticeable rise in scam cases where victims were being asked to purchase gift cards instead of sending money in the more typical ways, fraud protect officers from Avon and Somerset Police created a new partnership with Sainsbury s. The initiative, launched in April, has led to a number of victims being identified and supported thanks to the vigilant supermarket staff recognising the signs of customers being coerced into buying the cards by fraudsters.
