Clemson Sweeps Georgia State on Wednesday

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Volleyball team started off the first set strong and never looked back, taking the match, 25-22, 25-16, 25-23 over Georgia State on Wednesday night in Jervey Gym. The match was televised on ACCN. Camryn Hannah led the Clemson offense with 14 kills, as the Tigers pounded out 49 in the three-set match, just four shy of the ACC-high this season for a match of that length. Mckenna Slavik guided the offense to a .306 hitting night, and helped five teammates reach six or more kills. The offense was particularly efficient in the second set, going for 18 kills in 30 attempts as a team, and hitting .500. Kaylee Martin tallied six of her nine kills on the night in the frame. Ava Pritchard had three blocks to lead the Tigers, while also putting down eight kills in 14 attempts. Cate Long (7-1-15) and Ani Clark (6-1-15) also had strong nights offensively. Up Next Clemson returns to Jervey Gym Friday, Sept. 17 as the Tigers host UNC Asheville (2-5) at 12 p.m. at Rutgers

Tigers Sweep UNCW Series

Hannah posted five of her 10 kills in the first half of the opening frame, which Clemson went on to win, 26-24. The Tigers had set point, 24-21, but UNCW was able to extend the set after tying the game, 24-24. A UNCW service error, followed by an ace for Hannah ended the set and gave Clemson a 1-0 lead. After jumping out to a 5-1 lead to open the second, the Tigers finessed a pair of 5-0 runs later in the game, but UNCW once again battled back at the very end of the set to force extras. With the Tigers leading, 24-20, UNCW orchestrated four straight points to tie the set, 24-24. Then, Clemson looked to its middles in Ani Clark and Ava Pritchard, who accounted for the final two points of the game respectively, which the Tigers won, 26-24.
