NEW DELHI: The fall in count of daily COVID-19 cases and the shrinking positivity rate in Delhi can said to be the results of the lockdown imposed in the national capital to combat the pandemic, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Wednesday.
Interacting with reporters, he also said, about 600 cases of black fungus or mucormycosis have been reported here till date, with over 200 being recorded alone on May 23.

Synopsis Yesterday, 1,568 cases were recorded with a positivity rate of 2.14 per cent. Today s bulletin will come soon and the two numbers have further fallen. This seems like a straight result of the lockdown, he said.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 14 (ANI): All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen party chief, Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday said that the policy paralysis by the BJP-led Central Government led to COVID vaccination shortage across the country.
While speaking to ANI, Owaisi said, Vaccine shortage is only because of PM Narendra Modi. He placed the order of vaccines too late. We don t have transparency. They (Centre) lie to people that after the first dose, take the second dose after 4 weeks. Then it got postponed to 6 weeks, now it s 12-16 weeks. It shows their policy paralysis.
Battling severe vaccine shortage, the Jharkhand government hit out at the Centre and alleged that it was indulging in politics by not providing the required doses to the state.
Jharkhand has already put on hold the vaccination programme for the 18-44 age group, stating that it will announce the dates for starting the drive once vaccines are made available. The Government of India is indulging in politics with us. As a central government, it should respect the federal structure and facilitate quick delivery of vaccines and medicines to us, state Health Minister Banna Gupta told PTI. We have placed an order for 50 lakh doses. They (Centre) are saying that it will be supplied between May 15 to May 30. How can we start the drive for 18-plus under such circumstances? he added.
