Around Town: Let s tear up the roots of political weeds
By Pat Orr
For the Victorville Daily Press
In the New Testament, Timothy says “the love of money is the root of all evil.” This saying is often misquoted when three words “the love of” are left out. Intrinsically, money is not evil. It is simply a device created to smooth the exchange of goods. It’s much easier than, say, offering up goats or a day’s work in the field as our forefathers may have.
Conversely, one can easily make the case that the love of money can be evil. The pursuit of money can lead to corrupt morals, behavior, violence and bad decisions. Case in point: The unabashed love politicians have for union money. The mother’s milk of politics is cash.
