Wetherington has been, most recently, the Disaster Recovery Director with Monroe County, where she has been coordinating the long-term recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma in 2017. Pender County has named Tommy Batson as its emergency management director, according to a news release.
Batson, a Pender County native, started his public service career more than 24 years ago as a volunteer firefighter, officials said in the release. He started his role as emergency management director on March 28.
“As I take over as Director for Pender County Emergency Management, I plan to maintain and improve the capability of the department in successfully working relationships to prepare for, respond to, and mitigate from all-hazards related emergencies and disasters,” Batson said in the release.
He most recently has served as the county’s fire marshal and assistant emergency management director. Batson started his career with Pender County as a part-time telecommunicator in its 911 center.

Yvonne and I appreciate being able to receive our second Pfizer COVID-19 shot on March 25 from the Barry County Health Department in the Cassville Park, even though it was raining.
We appreciated Roger Brock, the administer of the Barry County Health Department, David Compton, Barry County Emergency Management Director, the Barry County Health nurses and the city of Cassville employees, who assisted with the clinic.

NCAT offers walk-in COVID-19 vaccines

GREENSBORO, N.C. As more people get vaccinated more places are offering doses without requiring an appointment.
North Carolina A&T previously only offered vaccines by appointment only since February, but now the clinic is offering walk-ins.
Dr. Robert Doolittle is the Medical Director for the Student Health Center on campus at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro.
Although vaccination appointments slowed down, he s hopeful the walk-in clinic will continue to be an option the community turns to.
