Charter participates in federal program, offers monthly credit to eligible households

STAMFORD, CONNECTICUT - Charter Communications recently announced its participation in the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) $3.2 billion Emergency Broadband Benefit Program, part of the company’s ongoing commitment to help close the digital divide.
Millions of households across Charter’s 41-state operating area are eligible for a credit up to $50 per month toward qualifying Spectrum Internet plans for the duration of the program.
Charter is offering a variety of broadband options under the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program and all Spectrum Internet plans available have no modem fees, data caps or contracts and include free self-installation. Interested consumers who are not currently Spectrum customers should visit spectrum.com/getqualified or call 855-662-9946. The coronavirus pandemic forced schools and workplaces online. Now the federal government which has grant programs for small businesses, restaurants and more is going to help low-income households pay to get online.
Applications are now being accepted for the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program, which provides a discount of up to $50 a month or an internet connection or the needed equipment. There’s also a one-time discount of up to $100 to help pay for a laptop, desktop or tablet.

Charter Communications Inc. announced Wednesday that it will participate in the program. In a press release, Charter Communications said Spectrum customers with eligible plans can receive money for the duration of the program as part of the company s mission to help close the digital divide.
The discount is limited to one monthly service credit per household. Once you apply, the credit will be applied to your current bill cycle, according to Spectrum.
According to the USAC, the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program will end either when the fund runs out of money $3.2 billion has been allocated or six months after the Department of Health and Human Services declares an end to the COVID-19 health emergency, whichever is sooner.
