BBMP’s army of volunteers to lead covid battle

Nodal officers, who were appointed in each ward as a replacement of elected councillors, have been tasked with the responsibility of leading an army of
volunteers for driving decentralised covid management in the City. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (
BBMP) expects at least 200 volunteers in each of the 198 wards.
The volunteers, who will be part of the Decentralised Triage and Emergency Response (DETER) team, will be given any of the following responsibilities: Promoting covid-appropriate behaviour, contact tracing and testing, supporting home isolation patients by either referring them to
