LANCASHIRE manufacturer What More UK is set to take part in one of the world s leading trade fairs, without leaving their Accrington headquarters. The housewares manufacturer, which also owns the well-known brand Wham and has a manufacturing plant in Padiham, has been taking part in the annual Ambiente tradeshow, which showcases consumer goods produced by companies from all over the world, for over 30 years. The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has forced the event online this year, with What More director Tony Grimshaw OBE ready to take his place at an event that last attracted 4460 exhibitors from 92 countries and 136,000 visitors from 162 countries just over a year ago.

Cllr Joyce Plummer A THIRD East Lancashire district local authority is set to increase it council tax by 1.99 per cent from April 1.
Hyndburn Borough’s Cabinet is this afternoon backed the rise which will add £5.01 a year to a Band D family home and £3.34 a year to the Band A terraced properties which make up the majority of its housing stock. The proposal moved by financed boss Cllr Joyce Plummer needs to be approved by a Full Council meeting on February 25. It would set the district’s annual council tax at £170.36 for a Band A property, £198.75 for a slightly large Band B one and £255.53 for a Band D home.
A POP-UP fish and chip shop has opened at a pub in Altham. The new take-away is operating from the Walton pub while they have to remain closed due to Covid-19 restrictions. The food pub, which is operated by Duffy s Pub Company, had to close for the November lockdown and hasn t been able to re-open since. Managing Director Marc Duffy said: We couldn t keep sitting with the door closed - we had to open and do something. It was not only to get us back doing something but we need that cash flow to come in again. The Walton, which Marc has ran for nearly five years, is the only pub in Altham and is located on the main road through the village.
