HOLLYWOOD stars such as Cillian Murphy and Sam Claflin will be descending on Cheshire again as production resumes on the final episodes of Peaky Blinders. Filming for the hit BBC period crime drama was halted due to the pandemic last year, but creator Steven Knight revealed to fans on social media that it had resumed, under government guidelines and protocols, and will be the ‘best series of all’. Many locations on our doorstep are used in show, with Arley Hall and Gardens, near Appleton Thorn, used as one of the main filming locations. Arley Hall doubles as lead character Tommy Shelby’s Arrow House with the production team painting the walls dark green and bringing in 1920s furniture every time they work there.

The surprise movie drop is becoming a staple of the pandemic and you know what, I’m all for it. It feels like a triumph when anyone finishes anything these days. And the news that Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anne Hathaway, and Doug Liman went off and shot a heist picture in London while everyone else was learning how to make sourdough is downright charming.

Dirty Pretty Things) pumps out this ode to imprisonment with little flair, not much depth, lots of dialogue, no grasp of one specific genre and unlovable characters. For good measure, in the middle of what is a tiresome couple’s personal drama, he tosses in a caper. Tonal issues and plausibility be damned.
