Two political newcomers are facing off in the Republican primary to replace a Democratic Harrison commissioner who is not seeking reelection. Jim Erb is opposing Dylan Seelnacht in the May 18 primary for the 4th Ward seat now held by township Commissioners Chairman Bill Heasley. No candidates will appear on the Democratic primary ballot. After serving two four-year terms, Heasley said he’s not running again because he is an advocate of term limits at all levels of government.

Traffic restrictions on Springhill Road in Harrison are scheduled to start Thursday and be in place into August. The two northbound, or uphill, lanes between North Canal Street and McWilliams Drive will close at 9 a.m. Thursday, Allegheny County Public Works announced. The two southbound, or downhill, lanes will be used to maintain one lane of traffic in each direction.

Starting at 5 p.m., the city can expect to see snowfall totaling one to two inches; considerably less than the previously forecasted six to eight inches.
