COVID-19 shots: Indiana clinics will offer walk-in vaccinations

How does the Indiana COVID vaccination rate compare to rest of US

As Indiana enters the next phase of its coronavirus vaccine rollout plan, state leaders are celebrating a steady climb in the state’s vaccination rate. As of Wednesday, the day Indiana began offering vaccines to anyone 16 and older, a total of 1,133,956 Hoosiers have been fully vaccinated. Indiana has administered 2,793,014 doses of vaccine. Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb and State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box discussed plans to keep that number climbing during their weekly news conference Wednesday. Those plans include removing residency requirements to serve people in unique living situations, and new partnerships with six Indiana colleges and universities to vaccinate students and staff.

Officials: Indiana s getting less than its share of COVID-19 vaccines

Indiana health leaders Wednesday, March 17 said the state is seeing fewer COVID-19 vaccine doses compared to other states based on population, which they say limits the state from expanding vaccine eligibility more quickly. While other states, including neighboring Ohio, have promised to open eligibility to all adults over the age of 16 as soon as March 29, Gov. Eric Holcomb and state health officials demurred Wednesday when asked when Indiana might follow suit. The state hopes to expand eligibility to residents 40 to 44, the next age group, very soon, said Dr. Lindsay Weaver, chief medical officer for the Indiana Department of Health. Holcomb said that he will provide more details on the state s timeline for vaccine rollout in a statewide address at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 23.
