The Northwest Business Center says there is a new program that local entrepreneurs can tap into.
Allyson Pele says its called a Grand Opportunity.
“This program provides businesses with a grant of up to $1,000 towards one-time professional marketing services that will aid their businesses in recovery,” says Pele, “Successful applicants will gain direct one on one business council from a marketing strategist at Wake Marketing.”
She explains that businesses in the Kenora and Rainy River Districts can apply.
“Participation in this program will empower businesses to adapt and effectively market themselves in the ongoing post-COVID economy. These programs are for business who want to explore their entire business and marketing strategy and build a plan in order to move themselves forward.”

The Northwest Business Centre is looking to help local businesses in their recovery from the negative financial effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Grand Opportunity Recovery Fund provides businesses with a grant of up to $1,000.00 towards one-time professional marketing services that will aid in their business recovery.

Operational since at least January 2020
Operates within Northwest Business Centre catchment area (Kenora and Rainy River Districts)

The Northwest Business Centre is set to host it’s next in a series of Business Conversations this week.
Allyson Pele is the manager of the Business Centre and says they’ve been really well received so far.
“I’ve been hosting them since May 2020 and have had 15 sessions,” says Pele, “Over 580 people have registered for those sessions from across the Kenora and Rainy River district.”
She tells us that the session on Thursday will feature Kenora MP Eric Melillo.
“He’s going to be joining us to present on federal COVID-19 programs and what he anticipates recovery in our region will look like.”

A three-part series for businesses that aims to inspire social innovation, activate local talent and increase resilience takes place this week.
Allyson Pele is the manager of the Northwest Business Centre and tells us some of what will take place.
“There’s going to be examples from across northern Ontario,” says Pele, “With some really cool businesses who will share their experiences.”
She goes on to explain what else will happen during the series.
“We’re going to be talking about how to start a social enterprise, what some best practices are, and how it can be really beneficial to the communities that you live in.”
