LAHORE: Citing ‘procedural hiccups’, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday stopped opposition leader and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif from leaving the country for London, causing a fresh round of bickering between the PTI government and the party led by the Sharifs.
The PML-N was quick to blame Prime Minister Imran Khan for ‘using FIA’ to create hurdles in the opposition leader’s departure despite the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) ‘clear order’ in this respect, terming the government’s action ‘contempt’ of court.

Shehbaz Sharif off-loaded from Doha-bound foreign flight
Immigration officials inform opposition leader their system needs to be updated for him to leave Pakistan
Opposition Leader in National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMLN) president Shehbaz Sharif was off-loaded from a flight leaving for Doha, Qatar, early Saturday morning, private TV channels reported.
On Friday, the Lahore High Court allowed the opposition leader, who is a cancer patient, to fly abroad on medical grounds. Shehbaz Sharif was scheduled to leave for Doha from the Allama Iqbal International Airport through a foreign airline.
After spending some days in quarantine in Doha, he had planned to fly to London where he was to consult his doctors. The airline issued Shehbaz Sharif a boarding card, as he showed up to the airport early Saturday morning.
