AFRL News:
KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Space Vehicles and Directed Energy Directorates honored achievements of 70 Air Force and Space Force individuals and teams in their 2020 Phillips Research Site Annual Awards.
The virtual ceremony was held Feb. 24. It illustrated how personnel from both directorates enabled the discovery, development and delivery of warfighting technologies for United States air, space and cyberspace forces.

Egypt was added for this year’s competition.
“We’re grateful for Camp Swift to host this (event) and for the county to support it,” said Bastrop County Judge Paul Pape. “(It’s) becoming quite an international event.”
In the past, the Best Warrior Competition has included a road march, an obstacle course, the use of combat arms, a land navigation exercise, activities to demonstrate proficiency in various warrior tasks, writing an essay and appearing before a board that reviews personal appearance, military bearing and knowledge.
These events test the tactical and technical expertise of the competing military personnel through a scoring system, and past competitions have also included a “mystery event” announced the day of the competition.
