Alstede Farms opening Bridgewater farm stand
Somerset County residents’ trek for fresh produce from Alstede Farms just got a little shorter.
The Chester farm is opening a new farm stand on Sat., May 1, in Bridgewater at 831 Route 202/206 at the former Linda s Farm Stand.
“That’s always been a territory that we were looking to expand to,” said Kyle Holman, brand manager and director of marketing of Alstede Farms. “We’re in a few farmers markets in that area and it’s always been a good area for us.”
It will be the popular farm’s second farm stand and third overall store.
CHESTER TOWNSHIP Alstede Farms unrestrained, unregulated and unapproved expansion on its 600-acre property caused stormwater to run off and damage its neighbor s property, a lawsuit states.
On Tuesday, neighbor William Asdal filed a complaint in state Superior Court in Morris County that blames Alstede Farm for the damage, and also alleges that the township failed to inspect the farm and enforce stormwater rules. Alstede Farms has engaged in this conduct without complying with the necessary statutes and regulations concerning stormwater management or obtaining the necessary approvals to engage in such construction and operations, reads the complaint.
Asdal s lawsuit says the farm s on-site commercial activities caused erosion to his property resulting in a 12-foot-deep ravine, or canyon, and a path of dead trees for hundreds of yards on his property and beyond.
