ALGONA Superstars at Algona High School is a big part of everyone’s high school experience. With a year off due to COVID-19, this year’s was better than ever. The seniors were excited, looking to finally place higher than third. This year was also different, as two grades, the freshmen and sophomores, had never participated in Superstars.

LINCOLN Alcona Community Schools officials notified parents Thursday three new staff members who work primarily at the middle and high schools were infected with COVID-19 and one new infection was reported for Alcona High School.
Superintendent Dan O’Connor said in a letter to parents Thursday the district is working with District Health Department No. 2 and the district will notify students and staff who need to quarantine.
O’Connor also encouraged parents to continue to monitor their child or children for the onset of COVID-19 symptoms.

ANKENY Two Algona High School students captured seventh- place in the 29th annual Des Moint Area Community College (DMACC)/Iowa Automobile Dealers Association (IADA) Automotive Skills Contest recently held at the DMACC Ankeny campus.
