The village of Algonquin is advising residents to expect traffic delays on Saturday, Sept. 18, during the procession of the Celebration of Life for retired Algonquin Police Chief Russ Laine.

A Chicago man has been arrested and faces three charges, including aggravated criminal sexual abuse, after police say he used a phone app to meet a minor at Holder Park in Algonquin, according to a release from the Algonquin Police Department.
Rafael Brill, 24, also was charged with traveling to meet a minor and grooming by the McHenry County state s attorney s office.
About 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, Algonquin police officers were dispatched to Holder Park, 1040 Timberwood Lane, after receiving a report of public indecency. Upon arrival, officers located a 15-year-old girl walking away from the park and saw Brill inside a car, according to police.

An Algonquin police sergeant who was arrested after an alleged drunken driving crash has been placed on paid administrative leave, officials said.
Officers with the McHenry Police Department arrested Timothy P. Cooney of Lake in the Hills on Feb. 21, McHenry Deputy Police Chief Thomas Walsh said.
The 34-year-old Cooney is accused of crashing into another vehicle while allegedly under the influence of alcohol, Walsh said. There were no injuries.
McHenry police responded at 6:45 p.m. to a crash at the intersection of Curran Road and Dartmoor Drive, Walsh said.
Cooney was traveling south on Curran Road when he tried to turn his 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer left onto Dartmoor Drive, Walsh said. Cooney s vehicle turned into the path of a 2004 Buick LeSabre that was traveling north on Curran Road.
