Foster Farms fined by California safety agency
(J. the Jewish News of Northern California via JTA) Though she calls herself an “art kid” at her core, Christina Jefferson is no stranger to contact sports.
Recently hired by the San Francisco 49ers to lead the NFL team’s diversity and inclusion efforts a newly created position Jefferson has a long history with a quite different, yet still bruising, athletic pursuit: roller derby.
In that sport, players in full pads and helmets race around an oval track in roller skates, jostling and jockeying for lanes, blocking and body checking each other along the way. Roller derby traces its roots to the 1930s but was revitalized on television in the 1960s with the help of Jewish Bay Area showman Jerry Seltzer. In a 2017 interview, Seltzer called the game a “symbol of women’s empowerment.”
Golden Nuggets: 49ers look to regain home-field advantage now that Levi’s Stadium is at full capacity

Levi’s Stadium will be open at full capacity this season, which means the 49ers should have their home-field advantage back in 2021. Technically, they were 1-7 at “home” in 2020. Though the team spent the month of December in Arizona, the home games earlier in the season didn’t exactly go as planned.
While COVID-19 cases, vaccination numbers and local guidelines are all trending in the right direction, the club isn’t out of the woods entirely. Their first home game is an exhibition matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs on August 14. That’s plenty of time for numbers to swing further in their favor, but it’s also a wide enough gap that the opposite could happen and local guidelines don’t allow for the outdoor arena to be filled with 68,500 fans.

(Reuters) â The San Francisco 49ersâ Leviâs Stadium will return to full capacity for the 2021-22 National Football League season, the teamâs president Al Guido said on Friday.
The 49ers are scheduled to host the Kansas City Chiefs in their pre-season home opener at the Leviâs Stadium on Aug. 14, while their first regular season home game will be against the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 26.
The 49ers were one of 13 teams that played their 2020 home games in front of no fans because of safety and health concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
âNot a day goes by that we havenât missed hearing 49ers fans in Leviâs Stadium and weâre thrilled to be able to fully welcome them back for the upcoming season,â Guido tweeted https://twitter.com/AlGuido/status/1395880737648254978.
