Carlisle’s Shyra Stoutt holds off Lettsome’s Tamri Thomas, on the anchor leg of the 4x200m Relay

Lettsome, House 1, prevented defending champions Flemming, House 3, from attaining their historic third 3-peat victory since their first between 2002-2004, during Thursday’s Elmore Stoutt High School Inter-house Track and Field Championships, with a resounding 44 points victory at the A. O. Shirley Grounds. It was Lettsome’s 10
th overall title.
Lettsome amassed 330 points to win the one-day version of the 49
th edition of the championships that’s traditionally held over two days. Flemming fended off hard charging Carlisle, House 4, by a mere four points 286-282 for second. O’Neal, House 2, rounded out the competition with 226 points.
Al Potter s appeal of murder conviction dismissed
The Court of Appeal of Newfoundland and Labrador has dismissed an application from Al Potter, who was convicted of murder in the 2014 stabbing and killing of Dale Porter.

The Court of Appeal of Newfoundland and Labrador has dismissed an application from Al Potter, who was convicted of murder in the 2014 stabbing and killing of Dale Porter.
Potter filed a notice of appeal in March 2019, claiming in his application the verdict is unreasonable and cannot be supported by the evidence and he wanted a new trial ordered.
