Councillor loses bid for new vote on fixing Sudbury Arena Back to video As Vagnini noted in his motion, last December council defeated a motion “requesting an evaluation of the projectNOW proposal, by way of a tied vote.” He voted against the study, but he was having technical troubles and was confused about what was taking place. “Vagnini, as a result of technical difficulties he experienced during his participation in the virtual council meeting of Dec. 15, mistakenly thought he was voting on a deferral of the motion, which resulted in him voting no,” the motion read.

Six councillors not acting in interest of taxpayers

Article content I want to bring attention to the action of six councillors – who combined represent less than half of the city’s population and less than half of the turnout in the last election – who have once again voted against assessing an opportunity to save $40 million in taxpayers’ money. I want to remind these councillors that they have a fiduciary duty and are compelled under the 2001 Municipal Act to behave in the interest of the city’s finances. I am of course talking about Councillors Robert Kirwan, Rene Lapierre, Mike Jakubo, Al Sizer, Bill Leduc, and Joscelyne Landry-Altmann, who recently voted again to stop a review into ProjectNow, which proposes saving the city $40 million.
