Dubai: The Chinese Consulate General in Dubai and a group of Chinese expatriates recently donated 11,200 iftar meals to Beit Al Khair Society, which were distributed to workers’ accommodations in Al Khawaneej.
Li Xuhang, Chinese Consul-General in Dubai, told Gulf News the donation was in response to the UAE’s Ramadan campaign.
Li added: “Poverty alleviation is a fine tradition shared by the UAE and China. Last year, China won a major victory in its fight against poverty and completely eliminated absolute poverty. The UAE also took only 50 years to build itself into a modern international metropolis and has completely bid farewell to poverty. Both China and UAE have created miracles in the history of human poverty reduction and shown the way to the world.”

Dubai Police has opened the doors for volunteers to join its mounted patrols working to educate people about precautionary measures against Covid-19.
Those who are fit, 21 and above, and tested negative for Covid-19, and accustomed to riding horses and wearing helmets can apply to volunteer.
The patrols will be working in Al Khawaneej, Al Warqa, Al Bedaa, Umm Suqeim, Al Barsha, City Walk, JBR and Boulevard.
Dubai: Dubai Police have urged people to volunteer in mounted unit initiative to educate others about precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, an official said.
Major General Expert Mohammad Al Adhb, Director of Dubai Mounted Police, said the new initiative will allow volunteers to ride Dubai Police horses and spread awareness about the disease. “The force is always keen on promoting the culture of volunteering in order to ensure sustainable development and build a better future for new generations,” Maj Gen Al Adhb said.
Portective measures
The new voluntary imitative titled ‘Ride with Dubai Mounted Police Unit’ will include sessions to educate volunteers about protective measures before distributing them across the emirate.
