Kevin Fraser, 32, is also charged with committing an indignity to a dead body.
The OPP released few other details about the case, but the second-degree murder charge implies Amanda Oake’s killing was not planned.
Oake, 40, was found on Dec. 8 near Tilton Lake Road in the Long Lake area.
Fraser was charged Friday. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on May 6.

Police and Crime Stoppers are seeking tips from the public concerning the death of a Valley East woman.
The body of Amanda Oake, 40, was discovered two weeks ago near Tilton Lake Road and Wavy Lake Road, in the Long Lake area.

Greater Sudbury Police had earlier sent out a request for information on the whereabouts of Oake, who had been missing since Nov. 28.
On Dec. 8, around 2:45 p.m., the police service said it “received a call regarding what was believed to be a deceased person in a wooded area off of Wavy Lake Road.”

The deceased person is Amanda Oake, 40, from Valley East, the OPP said Wednesday.

Greater Sudbury Police had earlier sent out a request for information on the whereabouts of Oake, who had been missing since Nov. 28.
Last Tuesday, around 2:45 p.m., the police service said it “received a call regarding what was believed to be a deceased person in a wooded area off of Wavy Lake Road.”
Officers arrived on scene and confirmed that the adult woman was deceased.
