Tasker’s case adjourned Article by January 20, 2021 The extradition case against businessman Alex Theodore Tasker is an “urgent matter” but certain adjustments would have to be made given the “sensitive time” the country is currently experiencing given the COVID-19 health crisis. Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes made the comments after adjourning the case against the 60-year-old Tasker until February 11 and 16. The decision was taken following submissions by Tasker’s defence attorneys of Andrew Pilgrim Q.C. and Neville Reid and the Crown’s team of Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Aliston Seale and Senior Crown Counsel Oliver Thomas. Tasker was brought before the law court on December 28, 2020 following a request for his extradition to the United States of America to stand trial on money laundering charges.

Tasker extradition hearing adjourned

No matters were heard at the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday. As a result, the extradition hearing involving former senior vice-president at the Insurance Corporation of Barbados Ltd (ICBL), Alex Theadore Tasker, was adjourned until next week Tuesday, January 19. The United States is asking that Tasker, 60, of Mayfair Terrace, Lead Vale, Christ Church, be extradited there to face a trial for conspiracy to launder money and money laundering between August 2015 and April 2016.
