TAZEWELL COUNTY (WEEK) Just minutes before a fatal wrong-way crash left a Morton man dead, other drivers on the highway had a close call with the wrong-way driver.
On Friday, police named Edward Huber as the deceased person in a three-car crash near the I-74 and I-474 split on Wednesday night.
They say Huber was travelling west in the eastbound lanes when he struck a semi-truck, leaving him dead. No one else was injured in the crash.
But in the minutes before the crash, Huber got dangerously close to hitting another vehicle.
Doug Burgess owns a driving school in East Peoria. He says he was driving on the I-74 East with a student when the wrong-way driver whizzed by them.
