New Brunswick NJ armed carjacking under police investigation

MyCentralJersey.com NEW BRUNSWICK – No one was injured in a carjacking in the area of Hamilton and Harvey streets near sunrise Thursday morning. The victim told authorities that a male approached his vehicle at about 5:59 a.m. and demanded the victim’s property while displaying a handgun, according to an alert sent by Rutgers University Chief of Police Kenneth Cop. The victim is not affiliated with Rutgers University and was not injured. The victim turned over some belongings and the male fled in the victim’s vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered unoccupied in the city, according to police. The New Brunswick Police Department asks that anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, contact the department s Detective Bureau at 732-745-5200.
