Plastics comprise about 12% of the nation’s trash, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. ...................... Sarah Pierpont, director of the New Mexico Recycling Coalition, said “we can’t recycle our way out” of the global plastic waste problem. “Individual choices really do make a difference, so we shouldn’t all be using disposable cutlery and plates,” Pierpont said. “But it can be frustrating when the plastic industry and the oil and gas industry have thrown the responsibility solely onto individuals.”

Success Story: Supergroomers

Sherri and Mark Perry – owners of Supergroomers – appreciate all the five-star reviews their dog grooming service has received from humans, but it’s how their canine clients react that gives them the most joy. “There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing one of ‘our’ dogs get excited and run up to enter the shop,” said Sherri. “You know you’ve made a connection with them.” ‘The dogs who come here give us the best reviews.’ It is really no wonder that those pups are so happy: each receives a salon-quality shampoo and conditioner, a mini massage, blueberry facial, shea butter pad and paw treatment, a ‘pawdicure’ and a warm fluff dry, all executed with patience and kindness. You’d be blissed out, too.
