CENTURY: Workington built Leyland National at Whitehaven bus station A new exhibition celebrating 100 years of bus and coach services in the region has opened. The Beacon Museum at Whitehaven has teamed up with Workington Transport Heritage Trust to present “CMS100”, a pop-up exhibition celebrating 100 years of bus and coach services by Cumberland Motor Services and its current owner Stagecoach. The exhibition in The Portal annexe gives a flavour of how the company expanded from the original Whitehaven Motor Services to serve the west and north of the old county of Cumberland. Following the takeover by Stagecoach the operating area has expanded to cover all of Cumbria including the excellent network of Lakes routes, including regular summer open top buses around Keswick and Windermere.

Not everyone enjoys early starts, but there are some steps you can follow to help you become a morning person. Daily routines help us to stay focused, maintain productivity and feel fulfilled by activating the reward system in our brains when we complete tasks, says Alister Gray, executive leadership coach, mindset expert and founder of Mindful Talent. Routines bring a level of certainty and security amidst a time when uncertainty can often feel overwhelming.
It s natural to feel a lack of motivation with a change in daily structure, and we may find ourselves sleeping in more than we used to. However, during these moments of uncertainty, maintaining a routine is key, and Alister adds that waking up early allows us the time to prepare ourselves for the day ahead.
Journalling is, undeniably, having a bit of a moment. Men of letters and the literary descendants of Pliny and Pepys have informed us, time and time again, that those who lean in to diary-keeping and articulation are usually our greatest minds. Yet think back on the last few decades and tell me the last time you heard of a man keeping a diary – or, even more parodied, a “journal” of some kind – and it wasn t the punchline of a joke.
But over the last couple of years, this attitude seems to be on the cusp of breaking. As we move towards the idea that modern masculinity involves vulnerability, empathy and emotional intellect, we see more and more people praising the virtues of their journal. Dan Flint is a rock band drummer in his thirties who swears by it; actor Oliver Stark can t get enough of his and even Shawn Mendes told us how he signs off every journal entry with “Love you, man, got your back.”
