A firearm, ammunition and €100,000 euro in cash believed to be the proceeds of crime were also recovered. Paul Foley of Inniskeen, Co. Monaghan was charged with two offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act. The 29-year-old was remanded to Cloverhill prison after no application for bail was made.

Two people charged over €1m drugs seizure in north east Updated / Monday, 25 Jan 2021 17:17 North-East Correspondent Two people have appeared in court in Monaghan charged in connection with the seizure of over €1m worth of drugs in the north east at the weekend. Gardaí made the discovery of cannabis, a handgun, ammunition and cash during searches in counties Monaghan and Louth on Saturday. Detective Garda Gavin Curran told Monaghan District Court that 56kgs of cannabis herb, estimated to be worth €1.12m, was found in the back of a van at an address in Inniskeen. A semi-automatic handgun and five rounds of ammunition were also found.
