PITB, LWMC to streamline waste management operations

LAHORE:A meeting was held at Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) regarding the information and communication technology (ICT) initiatives for Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) here on Thursday.
The meeting was chaired by PITB Chairman Azfar Manzoor and LWCM CEO Imran Ali Sultan. The PITB DG e- Governance Sajid Latif and other officials from both organisations were also present.
While discussing different areas of collaboration, special emphasis was laid on the implementation of ICT interventions to streamline the waste management operations of Lahore. “PITB will look into developing a model for automating waste management operations for better staff monitoring, vehicle tracking as well as staff attendance through IRIS (retina based) scanners,” PITB Chairman Azfar Manzoor commented.

LAHORE:Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Tuesday visited Corona Vaccination Centre set up at Expo Centre and observed the process of giving vaccination to elderly citizens.
He also reviewed the facilities being provided to the senior citizens who came for vaccination. He also talked to the health workers who were administered the vaccine there and lauded their services. Usman Buzdar also inquired after the aged citizens and asked them about the facilities available for them at the Expo Centre.
They expressed their satisfaction over the facilities being provided to them and said that the Punjab government has made the best arrangements over there. Usman Buzdar said that the first phase of administering vaccine to elderly citizens besides health workers has been started.

Turkish company takes up LWMC dispute with PAC chief

LAHORE: A delegation of Turkish company Oz-Pak met Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari, Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC), here on Friday.
The Turkish delegation included Managing Director Nizamuddin, Deputy Managing Director Karim Mobin and Project Director Syed Afzal Shah.The delegation conveyed their concerns to the Chairman Public Accounts Committee about the ongoing dispute with the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC).
They said that LWMC has yet to clear pending payments of the company while it has detained over 300 vehicles out of which only 81 were to be donated to LWMC after the clearance of payment. Yawar Abbas assured full cooperation to the Turkish companyâs delegation and called for resolving all issues by mutual consent. The Chairman further said that Pakistan and Turkey have strong brotherly relations and we stand with our Turkish brothers.

LAHORE:Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has resolved all issues related to hiring of machinery after which more than 10,000 tons of waste was lifted. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday regarding Zero Waste Operation in the city, CEO LWMC Imran Ali Sultan stated that all issues regarding machinery have been settled down. Till now more than 10,000 tons of waste has been lifted in an environment friendly manner whereas the operation was still underway.
He said that despite all the issues the department was working tirelessly to maintain cleanliness in the city. ‘In future LWMC will ensure more transparent system and citizens will not be disappointed in any case’.
