SETAR: The ferry service from the Kuala Perlis terminal to Langkawi will resume on Saturday, with a single trip travelling in both directions.
Human Resources and Operations Manager, Consortium Ferry Line Ventures Sdn Bhd, Captain Baharin Baharom said the journey from Kuala Perlis to Langkawi would be at 11.30 am and from Langkawi to Kuala Perlis at 2 pm.
“The reopening of the Kuala Perlis terminal is to meet the current demand from passengers who want to go to the island (Langkawi).
“As for the Kuala Kedah terminal, we will add one more trip to Langkawi that makes two trips available a day. The time will be informed in the near future,” he said in a statement here today.
ALOR SETAR: A physically-disabled elderly man was found dead after a heated argument with another man in front of a shopping mall at Lebuhraya Sultan Abdul Halim here.
The deceased was identified as coconut jam (kaya) biscuit seller Chua Hock Soon @ Chua Leok Eng, 73, who resided at Batu 4 3/4, Jalan Simpang Empat here.
His body was found outside the concrete perimeter fencing of SK Suka Menanti, about 10m away from the school s entrance.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 23): Perak Transit Bhd reported net profit of RM13.19 million for the fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2020 (4QFY20), up 12% from RM11.83 million in the previous year’s corresponding quarter, amid contributions from a newly commenced terminal.
Revenue for the quarter rose 7.6% to RM35.26 million from RM32.76 million a year earlier. Earnings per share dipped to 0.69 sen from 0.83 sen.
It declared a dividend of 0.8 sen per share for the financial year.
In a statement, the group said the strong performance was underpinned by the Integrated Public Transportation Terminal (IPTT) operations, which saw higher project facilitation fee and better advertising and promotional (A&P) income, following the commencement of contributions from Kampar Putra Sentral from September onwards.
MACC nabs seven Johor JPJ staff over road tax scam 21 Feb 2021 / 15:47 H.
JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 21: Seven staff of the Johor Road Transport Department (JPJ) were arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today for allegedly committing corrupt practices in road tax issuance which cost the government some RM3.1 million in lost revenue.
Sources said the suspects had been conducting the fraudulent scheme since July 2019.
“Following a tip-off, MACC today nabbed seven Johor JPJ counter staff to facilitate investigations into Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) road tax transactions of more than 1,000 vehicles.
“They are believed to have manipulated the MYSIKAP system for LKM road tax transactions, involving revenue leakage of RM3.1 million between July and December 2019,” said a source.

SETAR: A female teacher lost RM115,000 to a ‘Macau Scam’ syndicate, after being duped into believing she was allegedly involved in money laundering and drug trafficking activities.
Kedah Contingent Police Headquarters Commercial Crime Investigation Department head, Supt Elias Omar said the 41-year-old victim, who lives in Kulim, initially received a phone call from an unknown individual on Feb 7.
“She was contacted by a man who introduced himself as an Inland Revenue Board (IRB) officer regarding her company’s tax arrears. The call was then connected to another man who claimed to be a police inspector from the Pahang Police Contingent Headquarters.
