Level 2 Performance Evaluations Postponed Indefinitely Osteopathic Exam Board to Offer Alternative Pathways for Clinical Assessments February 15, 2021, 3:45 pm David Mitchell The National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners announced Feb. 11 that its COMLEX-USA Level 2 Performance Evaluation has been “postponed indefinitely.” The move came a little more than two weeks after the Federation of State Medical Boards and the National Board of Medical Examiners co-sponsors of the United States Medical Licensing Examination announced plans to The NBOME said in a statement that it is developing a temporary alternative pathway for graduates from the class of 2021 (and earlier) to meet the eligibility requirements for the COMLEX-USA Level 3 exam. Additionally, the organization said it will convene a special commission that will review the future of Level 2-PE and determine potential alternative pathways for 2022 graduates.

TGMC appoints new chief of staff, vice chief Staff Terrebonne General Medical Center has appointed Dr. William St. Martin as chief of medical staff and Dr. John Steigner as vice chief of staff for 2021-22. St. Martin has served as vice-chief of staff for the past two years and Steigner has served on the Medical Executive Committee for six years. St. Martin, a Houma native, received a bachelor of science degree from Nicholls State University and subsequently graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences. St. Martin is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and has been practicing in Houma for 26 years.

Floyd Council resigns as executive director of Birmingham Public Library

Birmingham Public Library executive director Floyd Council has resigned. Council, who was named executive director in 2017, resigned Tuesday after consultation “with my doctor, my pastor and my attorney,” he wrote to BPL employees.  Council didn’t give a specific reason for leaving and said he would offer no comments about the culture at the library or strategic future of BPL but prays “that the City and City Council will make viable plans to support the library system for the next 100 years.”  On Wednesday, the BPL board named Janine Langston interim executive director. Langston has served as deputy director since 2019 and is a 34-year employee of the Birmingham Library.
